To kick-off the month of March, Sneaker Con is set to invade New York’s Times Square Art Center in its inaugural event launch. Organized by some well-known entities, the event will include thirty different vendors under one rough showcasing the latest and greatest in footwear and apparel. Also on hand will be a number of rare and exclusive Air Jordans, Nikes and other famed sneakers from the past. The event which takes place Sunday, March 1st will run between 12:00 pm and 7:00 pm. The admission pirce will be $10 USD with music provided by Complex & IXL.

n4mation gives us a better look into their latest creation alongside Casio. After the highly successful colorways from last year, the Hawaiian-based brand work up another color scheme with the popular G-Shock GLX-5600 platform. This special “Salmon” joint is slated for a June 2009 release, but stay tuned for further details in the coming months.

The collection features an interesting take on historic culture including references to Queen Elizabeth on various pieces. Casio G-Shock drops some more styles for February with the release of a two-pack of GLS-5600Vs. Two colors include neon green/purple and black/pink. Both include a nylon strap with buckle which should probably be swapped out ASAP for the OG-style rubber strap. Available now at United Arrows, however with a growing number of stateside G-Shock drops, don’t be surprised if this hits globally.

J. Dilla x Obey “A Personal Appreciation” Print

In a battle with lupus which ultimately took his life, music producer J. Dilla touched the hearts of many through his powerful legacy. For J. Dilla’s mother “Ma Dukes” Yancey who was a tireless helper through Dilla’s battle with the disease, she is also is affected by the same disease that took her soon prematurely. Her condition has recently become more severe as friends jump on-board to help her out. Previous fund raising efforts were seen through a shirt via Stones Throw and artist Parra. Shepard Fairey alongside Brian Cross (B+) has also joined the cause with a special print of J. Dilla based on a 2003 photograph. KAWS “The Long Way Home” Exhibition

This weekend marks the opening of KAWS’ newest “The Long Way Home” exhibition at the Honor Fraser Gallery. Previews into his work to be presented features a number of re-appropriations of iconic cartoon franchises including SpongeBob, The Smurfs and The Simpsons. The exhibition will also include a life-sized Chum character among other iconic pieces.The show opens Saturday, February 21st at 6:00 pm and runs until 8:00 pm.

MoMA Brooklyn Subway Art Display

Reproductions of over 50 famous works will be displayed at Brooklyn’s Atlantic Avenue/Pacific Street subway station. Hoping to promote special awareness to the Museum of Modern Art’s collection of artwork, participating pieces will feature the art of greats such as Pablo Picasso, Vincent Van Gogh, Charles Eames and Andy Warhol. The displays will run from February 10th until March 15th, 2009.
